Details of our first swap project since introducing the website.
Aim
The aim of this swap is to knit one item for someone else. The choices
are to knit mittens (fingerless or regular), hat (beanie, beret etc)
or scarf (narrow or wide). Discuss with your pal what they'd like, but
leave it a surprise in the end!
Timeline
You have two weeks to sign up (until 20/07/07), by email with something obvious in the subject line. Packages have to be to your partner by the end of August. This is a long timeline for knitting one item and if your item is not received by the end of August, and you've not told your partner and me the hostess, your participation in future swaps is in jeopardy.
Assignment
Swapsters are not assigned to each other. For example, A is assigned
to B, who is assigned to C, who in turn is assigned to D. A and B are
not assigned to each other, in which case it would not be anonymous!
What to include in the package
Your package has to have one item hand knit or crocheted by yourself,
and perhaps a note, letter, postcard or similar to the person. Please
make your package a nice friendly one, and share some love around
Australia. While there is no prescription as to what to include in the
package, people in the past have included sweets and chocolates,
needles, stitch markers, books, yarn, gift vouchers or patterns. Once
you've received your package, please post to the group to let us know!
There will be a folder for photos, which each person needs to post to
complete their swap. We all want to live vicariously through you,
after all ;)! Postage on packages should at most be $5.50 (I think) to
be in a prepaid satchel.
What should I make?
There are lots of hats, scarves and mittens to choose from - we will
put some links up for you to browse through or else do a simple
internet search for a pattern. There is no limit on the size of the
project, as this is not specifically a one skein swap, but the idea is
to make a small item (< 200g) so you can use a new yarn or stitch or
technique. Please include details of the yarn with your package - the
band will suffice as well as where you can buy more!

- Colours you hate
- Variegated or plain yarns? (preference only - may not be delivered!)
- Are you allergic or adverse to any types of yarns?
- What types of yarns do you love to wear
- Anything you'd like not to receive? For eg, tea cozies as you don't drink tea
- Do you have any hobbies/interests other than knitting/crochet?
- Is your home smoke/pet-free?
- Do you have any allergies to pets or smoke?
