At last I own a set of interchangeable needles.
They're everything I imagined and more. This smart looking set from Knitpicks Options comes attractively presented in a zip up case with plastic sleeves to store needles, tips and other accessories.
After two to three weeks knitting with these needles I'm totally hooked and only wish I'd discovered them earlier.
The joins are very smooth, the cables are ultra thin and the points are, well, pointy. Knitting with these is a dream.
The pluses with this set are numerous: tip sizes from 3.5mm to 8mm will suit almost every project, four different lengths of cables that will comfortably accommodate most of the largest projects you'd want to knit, nice little extras like a tension ruler with magnifier and needle sizer combined, end caps to store projects on needles that aren't in use.
Another feature which I love is that the cables have no memory; this is a pleasant change because it was something I've found annoying with the existing circulars I'd bought previously.
I've read reviews that indicate not having the ability to lock cables together to make longer lengths is a disadvantage but I can't imagine a project that I'll be undertaking that wouldn't fit on the 150cm cable.
