by Annie Modesitt
Disappointingly, this book didn't change my life in terms of my knitting technique.
I had hoped to change my knitting style to 'combination' knitting, similar to continental knitting where the yarn is held in the left hand for right handed knitters.
Despite completing more than half the back of an adult man's jumper, my knitting appeared uneven, particularly the rib, and there was no sign that the knitting would become faster.
Improving knitting speed wasn't a good reason to buy this book and I'm sure, over time, the speed would have improved; if I'd overcome the unevenness I'm certain I would have persevered.
Annie Modesitt provides simple and clear explanations for many techniques and that is reason enough to buy this book. Learn how to knit cables without a cable needle, how to make a stunning and very round bobble, and decide which increase and decrease you want to use depending on the circumstances.
The explanations for the way stitches are formed and lie on the needle are the best I've seen.
Overall, a fantastic little book that you'll refer to over and over again.
